Corsair, not resting on their laurels, has announced an updated 500D from its beloved Obsidian series. The standard 500D aluminum plate has been replaced with a piece of smoked tempered glass with three Corsair LL120 RGB fans able to shine through the new piece of glass giving the chassis more of a premium aesthetic.

Lighting control of the fans is managed by the included Corsair Commander PRO digital RGB lighting and fan controller along with the Corsair iCUE software. In addition to RGB LED control, the updated iCUE software is able to monitor and adjust cooling curves and take control over system fans adjusting speeds to correspond with CPU, GPU, or system temperatures for low-noise operation.

Besides the new front glass panel, the Obsidian 500D RGB SE will retain all the features on the previous edition. This includes the smoked tempered glass panels on either side along with the aluminum top plate and trim. The Front panel connectivity also remains the same with USB 3.1 Type-C header and two USB 3.0 ports which complement the standard power/reset button and two 3.5 mm audio jacks.

Inside, the 500D RGB SE is able to house up to three 120 mm fans or 2 140 mm fans in front, two 120/140mm fans up top, and one 120 mm fan on the rear. Radiator capacity for those who would like to water cool is plentiful with up to 280/360mm in the front, 240/280mm on top, and 120mm on the rear. Drive bay count totals five with two 3.5-inch drives and three 2.5-inch mounting locations.

The Corsair 500D RGB SE retails for $249.99 ending up over $100 more than the first 500D. The case is available now.
